About Our Company

Backwall Studios sprang to life in 2002, the inspiration of its adventuresome founder, Pinky Blackwell. She envisioned a business bringing together her artistic and travel interests with her sales background in the hospitality and commercial office space industries.

Working with fine carpentry craftsmen and one of the largest national suppliers of customizable automated window coverings, she has designed a product line of custom "soft" room dividers, screens, shades and wall hangings that offer hotels, restaurants, and offices new ways to enhance the function and aesthetics of their lobbies, meeting rooms and other public spaces.

Future plans for Backwall Studios include helping other artisans realize their own dreams, especially those whose handicrafts enable their rural villages in impoverished countries to prosper.

An international traveler with a natural curiosity about people and places, Pinky Blackwell has collected artifacts, sculpture, unique art objects and photographs from around the world.
